CRATHES CASTLE FAMILY HISTORY PROJECT
Crathes Castle in Aberdeenshire, is a magnificent 16th century tower house granted to the Burnett family by King Robert the Bruce in 1323. Many people who visit NTS properties find some past connection to a property, or an area, and are keen to find out more about its history and connection to their families. In response to these interests, the Trust is developing a Family History Room where visitors can explore and discover their ancestry.
The Trust currently has space available for such a program in the Burnett Room, situated in an adjacent building to the Castle. The space is ideal area for this use and is easily accessible to the public. This program would add a new dimension for visitors to the Castle, enhancing their experience and helping them to discover new links to Scotland. To make this possible, the Trust needs to outfit the Burnett Room with proper equipment that includes: computers with broadband connection, audio-visual equipment, exhibition boards, bookcases, and lamps.
Project costs and funding requirement: $3,700.
